PrairieWhoever said small steps won’t get you anywhere clearly hasn’t spent a year recycling. It’s easy to think that putting an individual bottle or piece of paper in the recycling bin doesn’t matter, but when you stretch it across multiple buildings and more than 1,200 employees, it adds up pretty quick. Here’s a snapshot of the natural resources the agency saved with recycling efforts from January to August 2007.

Yards of Landfill: 156
Gallons of Water: 278,439
Kilowatt Hours: 272,598
Number of Trees: 935
Tons of Paper: 38.94
Barrels of Oil: 78
Pounds of Air Pollution: 2,337
